Sandy Kurniawan, 2005 U20 National Champion, won the open section while Gerhana Ch Kartina dominated the girls. It was worth noting that many talented young players swarmed the event. Surya, Satibi, Gokok, Taufanadhie, Priambodo, Masruri, Gerhana, Yemi, and Chelsie all soon became national champions in their respective age group.

Computers are becoming too strong, and too cruel, for their human counterpart. Even a player with Utut Adianto caliber couldn’t manage to register a point. The best Indonesian player was Taufik Halay with 1.0. Susanto Megaranto followed with half points. The computers whitewashed Tirta Chandra Purnama and Utut Adianto.

This event was a battle between two young players, 13 years old Irene Sukandar and 15 years old Anya Corke. Despite the age difference Sukandar showed to Corke that she was more than worthy opponent. Corke levelled the score line after a hard fought victory in the last round. In the next few years Corke has emerged as a Hong Kong number one.

Match between Indonesian young star Susanto Megaranto and the best Vietnamese player Đào Thiên Hải ended sharing the spoil 3-3. Đào lost the first two games before took over the lead in the end of the match. It was still a tie, 1-1, in the next two blitz games. The Vietnamese GM finally dispatched Susanto in a sudden death.

Jana Krivec and Nana Alexandria came out on top. Indonesia hopeful young talent Irene Kharisma Sukandar respectfully claimed third place. An experienced Sri Vidawati was supposed to be less than happy to find her self at tenth place out of 12 players. This was her last appearance in an international event to date.
