3rd ASEAN Championship, Bekasi 2015

Very disappointing. That sums up the performance of Indonesian players in the 3rd ASEAN Championship. No player was able to achieve more than 50% of VP, let alone won the championship trophies. Yoseph Theolifus Taherr, a last minute addition, was the only one who made a notable result. He scored 50% or 5.5 VP which was good enough to register a 10-round IM norm.

Male players in a women chess event? Indeed. IM Irwanto Sadikin and GM Edhi Handoko played ruthlessly and placed themselves on the top two. The tournament winner, Sadikin, let only two draws and trounced the other nine. The best female player was Evi Lindiawati from Indonesia at fourth.

1st ASEAN Masters Circuit 1st Leg GM-B, Tarakan 2008

The tournament was a fruitful journey for the players of Philippines. Not only the Elo favorite GM Mark Paragua won the event but IM Jayson Gonzalez also secured his much needed final GM norm. Another player who got the GM norm was Armenian Ashot Nadanian. The host had to be satisfied with IM norms for FM Syarif Mahmud and Sugeng Prayitno.

Singaporean GM Zhāng Zhōng won the GM-A section without much difficulties. He notched 6 wins without losing any. IM Tirto, who was also unbeatable, came second and scored his first GM norm. Indonesian highest rated player GM Susanto Megaranto lost his hope for first place after losing to his fellow country man FM Tirta Chandra Purnama.
