Mission accomplished. WIM Irene Kharisma Sukandar successfully registered her first WGM norm. She was assured of the norm after settling for a draw with Slovene WGM Jana Krivec in the last round. Earlier in the half way of the chess tournament the WGM norm prospect looked bleach for the 16-year old Indonesian.

Depdiknas WGMs, Jakarta 2012

In a rare occasion Departemen Pendidikan Nasional (Department of National Education) sponsored a rating chess event. Six players, 3 men and 3 women, joined the event. All the women had an age of 20 or less. It was clear that the main purpose of the event was to give the woman players an opportunity to improve their ratings.

26th SEA Games, Palembang 2011

Vietnam is developing to be the next chess powerhouse alongside China and India. Their undeniable domination in the 26th SEA Games 2011 at Palembang, Indonesia, is just another proof. Vietnam seized 6 gold medals of possible 9. The rest of golds was shared equally by Indonesia, Philippines, and Thailand.

8th Japfa Festival WGMs, Jakarta 2013

WIM Chelsie Monica Ignesias Sihite and WIM Medina Warda Aulia fell short in the 8th Japfa Chess Festival WGMs Tournament. Sihite scored well enough for a plenty of more ratings but not a WGM norm. Aulia was yet to rediscover her form when she played amazingly in the Indonesia-France Women Match last year.

Indo Prima Bullfrog Rating, Kuta 2014

The host chess players registered a huge success in this event. Three players nailed new titles. Bayu Suharjito (48-year old) and Pasek Budarsa (51) grabbed an FM title and a new Elo rating of 2318 while Iin Kadek Dwijayanti (27) secured a WFM title. The other Bali player FM Zulkifli Tunasly went to the top to capture the tournament trophy.

National Selection for 41st Olympiad, Bekasi 2014

The National Chess Selection, held at SCUA (Utut Adianto Chess School) Bekasi, was to choose two man and one woman players to complete Indonesian team for the upcoming Chess Olympiad at Tromsø, Norway, on August 1-15, 2014. Only two men and one woman would be chosen. Three men and four women have already been in the team.

7th Japfa Festival Women International, Jakarta 2012

The chess event ended bitter for the first seed WGM Anastasia Gutsko. She placed herself at 5th, only better than the tailender Indonesian Yemi Jelsen. The Ukraine WGM actually started very well. She beat Jelsen and Russian WGM Anna Burtasova in the first two rounds. In round 3 she was hit by a shameful accident. Her cell phone was ringing.
