7th Japfa Festival Women International, Jakarta 2012

The chess event ended bitter for the first seed WGM Anastasia Gutsko. She placed herself at 5th, only better than the tailender Indonesian Yemi Jelsen. The Ukraine WGM actually started very well. She beat Jelsen and Russian WGM Anna Burtasova in the first two rounds. In round 3 she was hit by a shameful accident. Her cell phone was ringing that caused her got forfeited.

6th Japfa Festival Women International, Jakarta 2011

Georgian WGM, Sopiko Guramishivili, claimed the championship trophy of the 6th Japfa Festival Women International on October 28th 2011 after collecting 6.5 VP in ten rounds. Sopiko edged out the other five players. The chess event was contested in double tound robin since October 23rd at Kartika Chandra Hotel, Jakarta.

Electric Woman Stars Cup, Jakarta 2007

Perusahaan Listrik Negara (State Power Company) sponsored the event. It was no coincidence since the chairman of the company, Eddie Widiono, was also the chairman of Percasi (All Indonesia Chess Federation). For Slovene WIM Jana Krivec and Indonesian WFM Irene Sukandar, the tournament was a hunting ground for the WGM title.

Enerpac Rating, Bekasi 2002

Taufik Halay led until the penultimate round. All he needed was half a point in the last round to conclude the tournament. Unfortunately his opponent, Andrean Susilodinata, had a different idea and beat him. The surprise champion was Tirta Chandra Purnama who entered the tournament as the lowest rated player.

Three best Indonesian players joined three world class women players to participate in this unique event. Indonesian players were hand in hand to lift GM Utut Adianto to the top spot but failing miserably. Adianto got 3.5 points of possible 4 from Indonesian players. Another sad day for fair play.
