1st Indonesia National Age Group Championship, Medan 1975

The city of Medan, North Sumatera, had an honour to host the 1st Indonesia National Age Group Chess Championship. Erwanto Wahyuwidayat represented DKI Jakarta. Tommy Supriyanto and Edhi Handoko played for DI Yogyakarta and Central Java respectively. South Borneo and three provinces in Sumatera also sent their players.

16th Indonesia National Championship, Medan 1975

The Indonesian-first-GM-to-be Herman Suradiradja won the 1975 National Chess Championship and deservedly so. He left a big chasing group one full VP behind. The pre-tournament favorite and defending champion IM Ardiansyah, Arovah Bachtiar, and seven other players belonged to that group.

6th Indonesia National Championship, Medan 1960

When Baris Hutagalung was in his zone, no body could stop him. Not Max Arie Wotulo, not Arovah Bachtiar, and not everyone else. Baris came out as a convincing winner in the 6th Indonesia National Championship. He collected a massive 10 VP from 12 games for the first place. The runner-ups were Max and Merlep Ginting with 9 VP.
