2002.07.22-29. 11 rounds Round Robin. 12 players. Category VIII. Rating average 2446. 66 games. Complete.

Indonesia registered the country’s 8 best chess players, excluding Utut Adianto, out of 12 participants in this event. Unfortunately no one could manage to claim the champion trophy.

The only girl Antoaneta Stefanova saw off the chess competition, scored 1.5 points above his nearest contender Indonesian’s Cerdas Barus.

Myanmar chess player, Nay Oo Kyaw Tun, despite of his bloated rating of 2500+, could not escape his fate from being the tail ender of the tournament.

Wismilak belongs to the big four cigarette companies in Indonesia. This event seems to be the last international chess tournament sponsored by Wismilak considering FIDE rules out smoking in playing hall.
